Colonel Denning is fairly close by (about a 45 minute drive) and off the beaten track.The path around the lake sports a pretty nature trail, which passes a smallish spring and several slightly boggy areas. |

Our favorite sites are next to a nice little creek, which is great for cooling off.At one point when the evening was exceptionally hot, we put our chairs in the creek and sat there with our feet in the running water -- it was very relaxing! I sat there again after dinner, and then something wriggled into my shoe. After THAT, I decided to join the party around the campfire!
